Please read these terms carefully before using ChargeLock.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using ChargeLock (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms apply to all users of the App, including both free and Pro subscribers.

2. Description of Service

ChargeLock is an iOS application that helps users reduce distracting app usage by:

Automatically locking selected apps when the device is charging
Automatically locking selected apps when battery falls below a user-set threshold
Allowing users to initiate manual focus sessions with app blocking
Requiring users to solve a math or logic challenge to unlock blocked apps
Providing local Screen Time analytics and usage suggestions

The App uses Apple’s Screen Time API (FamilyControls framework), which requires explicit user permission to function. The App will not block any apps without the user’s consent and configuration.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use ChargeLock. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

ChargeLock is available on iPhone devices running iOS 16.0 or later. Certain features may require newer iOS versions.

4. Free Plan and Pro Subscription

Free Plan includes:

Locking up to 5 apps
Manual focus sessions (unlimited)
Charging auto-lock trigger
Basic math challenges (Easy difficulty)
7-day analytics history

ChargeLock Pro is an auto-renewing subscription that includes:

Unlimited app locks
Low Battery Lock trigger
All challenge difficulty levels and Strict Mode
Full Screen Time analytics dashboard
Daily smart suggestions and weekly reports
Streak system and achievements

Subscription Billing: ChargeLock Pro subscriptions are billed through Apple’s App Store. Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at the confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

To manage or cancel your subscription, go to iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain Pro access until that date.

We do not offer refunds outside of Apple’s standard refund policy. Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple.

5. Permitted Use

You may use ChargeLock only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:

Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
Use the App to circumvent or bypass other applications’ security measures
Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or entity
Use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App or its related systems

6. Screen Time API and Permissions

ChargeLock uses Apple’s FamilyControls framework, which requires you to explicitly grant “Screen Time” permissions during onboarding. This permission allows ChargeLock to shield (block) apps you select.

⚠️ Important: ChargeLock uses Screen Time restrictions that are enforced at the iOS system level. In certain configurations (especially Strict Mode), unlocking may require solving a challenge. We are not responsible if you are temporarily unable to access a blocked app during an active session.

You can revoke Screen Time permissions at any time via iPhone Settings → Screen Time. Revoking permissions will disable all blocking functionality.

7. Limitations and Disclaimer of Warranties

ChargeLock is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:

The App will meet your specific requirements
The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure
App blocking will be 100% effective in all iOS versions or configurations
Focus session results or behavioral outcomes are guaranteed

The effectiveness of app blocking depends on Apple’s Screen Time API, which may change behavior across iOS updates. We will make reasonable efforts to maintain compatibility.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ChargeLock and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

Loss of productivity or missed notifications during a focus session
Inability to access a blocked app in an emergency (see Section 6)
Data loss resulting from App deletion or iOS system changes

Emergency note: ChargeLock does not block emergency services (Phone, Messages to emergency contacts) or core iOS functions. However, we strongly recommend not blocking any app you may need in an emergency.

9. Intellectual Property

ChargeLock, its logo, name, design, and all content within the App are the intellectual property of the ChargeLock team. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works based on ChargeLock’s branding or content without prior written permission.

10. Updates and Changes

We may update the App periodically to improve features, fix bugs, or maintain compatibility with new iOS versions. Some updates may change or remove features. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the new version.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes via an in-app message. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

11. Termination

You may stop using ChargeLock at any time by deleting the App from your device. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the App for violations of these Terms, though given the local-only nature of the App, this primarily applies to future App Store distribution.

12. Apple’s Terms

ChargeLock is distributed through Apple’s App Store. Your use of the App is also subject to Apple’s App Store Terms of Service. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and Apple’s terms, Apple’s terms take precedence for App Store-related matters.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from the use of ChargeLock shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first. If unresolved, disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in the developer’s place of establishment.
