TinniRelief – Privacy Policy

TinniRelief Privacy Policy

Overview

TinniRelief is built with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, or sell your personal data. All personal information you create in the App — your symptom logs, tinnitus frequency, EQ settings — stays on your device.

This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

1.1 Data We Do NOT Collect

AI Features (Tinnibot): TinniRelief includes an optional AI wellness assistant called Tinnibot, available on iOS 26 or later on compatible devices. Tinnibot is powered exclusively by Apple Foundation Models, an on-device AI framework. All AI processing occurs entirely on your device. No conversation data, user messages, or AI responses are transmitted to TinniRelief servers, Apple servers, or any third-party AI service. This feature is completely absent on devices running iOS below 26.

We do not collect:

  • Your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
  • Your health data or medical records
  • Your symptom logs, mood entries, or daily log data
  • Your tinnitus frequency measurements
  • Your EQ settings or sound preferences
  • Your location
  • Device identifiers for tracking purposes
  • Browsing history or behavior outside the App
1.2 Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored only on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework and never transmitted to our servers:

1.3 Data Collected by Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services that may collect limited data:

Apple App Store / StoreKit

When you make a purchase, Apple processes your payment and subscription data. This is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Apple shares with us only:

  • Whether you have an active subscription (yes/no)
  • Subscription expiry date
  • Anonymous purchase receipt for verification

We never see your Apple ID, payment method, or billing details.

Firebase Remote Config

We use Firebase Remote Config to deliver the sound library list (URLs and metadata). Firebase may collect:

  • Anonymous installation ID
  • App version
  • Device locale and timezone

Firebase Remote Config does not collect personal data. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

Apple Foundation Models (iOS 26+)

If you use the Tinnibot AI feature on iOS 26 or later, all AI processing happens entirely on your device using Apple’s on-device Foundation Models. Your conversation with Tinnibot:

  • Never leaves your device
  • Is never sent to Apple’s servers
  • Is never sent to our servers
  • Is not stored after the session ends

2. How We Use Data

Since we collect minimal data, our use is limited:

  • Subscription status (from RevenueCat) → to unlock premium features
  • Sound library URLs (from Firebase Remote Config) → to show available sounds
  • No personal data is used for advertising, analytics, or profiling

We do not:

  • Sell your data to third parties
  • Use your data for targeted advertising
  • Share your data with data brokers
  • Build profiles based on your usage

3. Apple Health / HealthKit

TinniRelief does not integrate with Apple HealthKit and does not read or write data to the Health app.

4. Microphone Access

The App requests microphone permission for the frequency matching feature during onboarding (notch therapy). Microphone access:

  • Is used only when you actively use the frequency matching feature
  • Audio is processed entirely on-device
  • No audio recordings are stored or transmitted
  • You can revoke microphone permission at any time in iOS Settings → TinniRelief → Microphone

5. Audio URLs You Provide

If you use the Custom URL Player feature:

  • The App fetches audio from URLs you enter
  • The URL is sent to the server hosting that audio (not to us)
  • We do not log, store, or monitor the URLs you enter
  • Saved URLs are stored locally on your device only

6. Children’s Privacy

TinniRelief is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

7. Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously:

  • All data is stored locally on your device using Apple’s secure SwiftData framework
  • Device data is protected by iOS’s built-in encryption
  • Subscription data transmitted to RevenueCat is encrypted in transit (TLS)
  • Firebase Remote Config data is fetched over HTTPS
  • We do not operate servers that store your personal data

8. Data Retention

Local device data: Retained until you delete the App or manually clear data within the App. Deleting the App removes all locally stored data.

Subscription data (RevenueCat): Retained as long as your account is active with RevenueCat. See RevenueCat’s data retention policy for details.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

Right to Access

You can view all data stored locally by the App at any time within the App’s settings.

Right to Delete

Delete all locally stored data by deleting the App from your device. To request deletion of any subscription-related data held by RevenueCat, contact us and we will coordinate the request.

Right to Portability

Your local data (symptom logs, settings) can be exported as a PDF from the App (Premium feature).

GDPR (European Users)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including the right to access, rectify, erase, and restrict processing of your data. Contact us to exercise these rights.

CCPA (California Users)

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We do not sell your personal information. You have the right to know what information we collect and to request deletion.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

  • Updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy
  • Showing an in-app notification for material changes

Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

The App may contain links to third-party websites (e.g., audiologist resources). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these websites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
